Remote Model: What is a remote control model outboard?
Most small boats use tiller-operated outboards. However, certain applications require a "remote control" model outboard. A remote control model outboard is one that is equipped with remote steering, throttle, and shift controls. A control box with 33C type control cables is used to remotely control gear shift and throttle. Typically, remote models are equipped with a steering hook plate or link arm to connect to a boat's steering/cable system.
Remote Steering/Control models may NOT be shipped due to manufacturer restrictions and must be installed on your boat at our Cookeville, TN location. Prices below are for remote models and include taxes and installation. Contact us to purchase and schedule an appointment for installation.
Tiller-To-Remote Conversion Kits: Nissan does permit the shipment of 9.8hp tiller handle (hand driven) models. Tiller models can be converted to remote control by purchasing a tiller-to-remote conversion kit. (more info)
